They've had to hire a new K and 1st grade teacher in the past couple of years due to increase in numbers on that end and chances are these same students when they keep moving up a grade there will be a new teacher hired as they step up. The elementary school has 3-4 times the amount of students as the high school too so that has to be taken into consideration.
If you get a chance take a stroll through it sometime it is very nice.

And about the smartboards, those are pretty useless IMO. I've never really met a teacher that liked them, some exceptions, they were in most class rooms in HS but sat off to the side and the teachers used the dry erase boards. When I did see them used, I was never really impressed and they stayed screwed up more times than not. May have been the kind of board or something else, but I don't think they're that big of a deal or even really needed. Just my opinion, I've never seen them used in colleges either around here. But things like brand new overhead projectors would be great and ARE needed, only a few had them at Burton, you'd have to borrow one from the library or something if they were available. Those would be an example of some upgrades, they're a huge classroom asset I've noticed - of course with additional technology.

Oh no, it definitely needed to be done, I meant in terms of it being in bad shape falling apart - that I never seen and thought it was in pretty good condition structure wise, nothing like these highschools. It definitely needed to be upgraded because of enrollment size, so it was a must and security was basically non existent. Never had a cafeteria either, just the gym with the curtain down the middle and you'd have gym class on the other side..it was gym/cafeteria/auditorium. I just meant the structure was in good shape, but was in desperate need of upgrades from top to bottom in terms of addition and remodeling of classrooms.

Who said you have to put a time limit on it? Norton Elementary wasn't done entirely when school was closed either. If they can remove asbestos during the school year with students present, surely to god they could remodel one section by section.
WhenI was in 7th grade the asbestos removal for the 7th grade addition to the school was removed was school was in session. All they did was put us in classrooms further down the hall.

Smartboards are used as overhead projectors, that's basically what they are, at least the new ones. You can show anything from a Power Point presentation to a movie. The ones I have seen (the ones installed at NES) are pretty cool and I know a lot of the teachers use them everyday.
But they could be a completely different version than you all had in HS because there are multiple models available.

I am sure it is different depending on the building BUT back when the asbestos was removed that did not include asbestos that was "sequestered" (Trapped in floors/Walls/Whatever else) that was allowed to remain unless any renovations that would "stir it up" were ever done.......I for one do not think I would be comfortable with having my kids go into that environment for an extended period of time.....Heck if I was a teacher I think it might give me pause......since hidden costs were brought up once before I wonder what the counties responsibility would be if there were to be any health issues that would come out of this?

Uh, what? My first post did nothing but address "points" you made, you then immediately resorted to personal attacks, so don't give me that ****. Unfortunately a significant factor in teachers not liking them is the huge percentage of teachers that dont like change and fear learning new technology (like a lot of the general population).
